University of Exeter's Bharat Pankhania on the COVID-19 Delta variant sweeping across Asia



Indonesia’s COVID-19 restrictions will likely be extended as cases continue to spike. The country has seen a record jump in daily deaths, with 1,025 fatalities. Indonesia has overtaken India as Asia’s new coronavirus epicentre. Meanwhile, the Philippines has detected its first local cases of the Delta variant. In Australia, the state of Victoria has reported six new COVID-19 infections on the first day of a five-day snap lockdown. Dr Bharat Pankhania from the University of Exeter shared what countries could have done more to prepare as the Delta variant sweeps across the region.
