The New York Rangers landed forward J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks in a five-player trade Friday night.

Miller, defenseman Erik Brannstrom and defense prospect Jackson Dorrington are headed from Vancouver to New York in exchange for veteran forward Filip Chytil, defenseman Victor Mancini and a first-round draft pick in 2025 that is top-13 protected.

It’s the latest shakeup by the Rangers’ front office this season after the team dealt captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks and flipped former second overall pick Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken for defenseman Will Borgen and two draft picks.

Miller returns to New York after starting his career with the Blueshirts in 2012 and playing parts of six seasons for them.

Miller, 31, was a 30-goal scorer in each of the past three seasons but has just nine goals to go with 26 assists in 40 games this season. In 839 career games, he has amassed 674 points (247 goals, 427 assists). He received votes for the Hart Trophy (league MVP) in 2019-20, 2021-22 and 2023-24.

Brannstrom, 25, was in his first season with Vancouver after spending his first six NHL campaigns in Ottawa. He has three goals and five assists in 28 appearances this campaign and has tallied 77 points (10 goals, 67 assists) through 294 career games.

Dorrington, 20, was a sixth-round draft pick by the Canucks in 2022. He has yet to make his NHL debut.

Chytil, 25, has been a mainstay in the Rangers’ lineup for most of his eight NHL seasons. He had 11 goals and nine assists in 41 appearances this season and has 164 points (75 goals, 89 assists) through 378 career appearances.

Mancini, 22, was a fifth-round pick by New York in 2022. He made his NHL debut at the start of this season, playing 15 games before ultimately being sent to AHL affiliate Hartford. He had one goal and four assists for the Rangers.
