Legendary South Africa cricketer AB De Villiers was among the first inductees into the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Hall of Fame and his connection with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise is quite well known. De Villiers was part of the RCB setup from 2011 to 2021 and his friendships with teammates Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle is still quite apparent to this day. While the former cricketer is currently on vacation in Mauritius, he did not miss a chance to show his allegiance to RCB.
De Villers posted a special family vlog on his social media handle where he documented his vacation and captures the breathtaking scenery. During a high-speed boat ride, he could be heard shouting RCB’s iconic chant “Ee sala cup namde” which translates to “This year, the cup will be ours”.
Spring Break with the Family
Found this new song ‘Jump’ by @andygrammer very inspiring and decided to use this lovely track to sum up our days in the sun, the many jumps into the water and all the beautiful things earth has to offer.#Travel #FamilyTime pic.twitter.com/uDPQ3jqDlA

Earlier, De Villiers also took aim at the critics of Kohli who have expressed concern over his approach and strike rate. The South Africa legend reminded everyone that Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer in IPL 2024 and said that he is ‘fed up and frustrated’ of the constant conversation over strike rates.
“Virat Kohli catching criticism about his strike-rate. It’s been going on for way too long, and I am fed up with that now. I am frustrated to say the least. This guy is one of the best to ever play the game of cricket. He’s incredible in the IPL; he plays a certain role for RCB and I’ve had pretty much of these data-driven pundits who keep criticising this man when you don’t really have knowledge of the game. How many games of cricket have you played? How many IPL hundreds have you scored?” de Villiers asked during a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
“He’s been doing it day in and day out guys. He has won games for the team playing in a certain way. He has got a formula and it’s up to the team – the coach and captain – to strategise around that. His strike-rate this year has been even better than the record-breaking season which he had [in 2016]. I don’t know where this criticism is coming from. He is batting like a dream. All I can say is ‘Virat, keep playing like you are,'” he added.
