Britain’s financial watchdog will ban Crispin Odey from the sector and fine the hedge fund founder £1.8mn for a “lack of integrity” in his conduct after he faced allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

Odey, who founded the hedge fund Odey Asset Management, will challenge the Financial Conduct Authority’s decision by referring it to the Upper Tribunal.

The FCA said Odey, who stands accused by women of multiple counts of sexual misconduct over decades, “deliberately sought to frustrate OAM’s disciplinary processes into his conduct to protect his own interests”.

The findings in the FCA’s decision notice are provisional.
