IPL Playoffs Qualification Scenario: How Hardik Pandya’s MI Got Knocked Out By SRH’s Win Over LSG

The Mumbai Indians have now become the first team to get knocked out of the IPL 2024. And it happened without the side even playing their next match. SunRisers Hyderabad defeated Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday to knock out the five-time champions. Here’s the complete details of how the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians got knocked out on Wednesday. (IPL 2024 Points Table)

Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have already 16 points each, as they sit on top of the IPL 2024 points table. SRH beat LSG by 10 wickets on Wednesday, and the Pat Cummins-led side went up to to 14 points. This means that Mumbai Indians will not be able to overtake any of these three teams as the Hardik Pandya-led side has only 8 points after playing 12 games. They have two more matches left and the best they could get to is 12 points overall.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, who both have 12 points, face each other in the 64th match of IPL 2024 next week. This means one of the two teams is going to finish over 12, which again goes over the maximum points MI could get to.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya recently said that he wasn’t getting carried away as far as MI’s playoffs chances are concerned. “I don’t know which mathematical situation we’re talking about, but at the same time, you want to focus on playing good cricket,” Hardik said in a post-match presentation, replying to Manjrekar’s suggestion.

“The way our batters batted, that was excellent. My bowling, I like to bowl in the right areas, I bowl according to the situation. Bowled in the right areas today and it worked. I was like Chawla had to bowl from the shorter side. He (Chawla) had to be accurate, the margin of errors have become smaller these days for the bowlers.

“It’s unbelievable, the best past of SKY is that he puts the bowlers under pressure. It’s sheer confidence, his game has changed, is one of the best batters. He can change a game in a different way, lucky to have him (SKY) in our side,” Hardik further said in the presentation ceremony.
