Surnisers Hyderabad secured a thrilling 1-run victory against Rajasthan Royals, thanks to Bhunveshwar Kumar’s heroics with the ball. The veteran seamer dismissed Royals’ Rovman Powell on the last ball of the over to help his side secure a victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match on Thursday. As the victory brought an end to the Sunrisers’ 2-game losing streak, the franchise’s owner Kavya Maran, couldn’t hide her delight in the stands. As the cameras focused on Maran, she could be seen jumping with joy, celebrating her team’s victory against the table-toppers.

Bhuvneshwar was the Player of the Match for SRH, producing figures of 3/41 while picking three extremely important wickets for his side. The Hyderabad franchise, which remains in a tight battle for a spot in the playoffs, will truly be relieved with the win, and the importance of the result can be understood by looking at Maran’s reaction.

The victory, which was Sunrisers’ 6th in 10 matches, takes them a place above 5-time champions Chennai Super Kings to the 5th spot in the points table.

Bhuvneshwar, when asked about the thought process behind his final over approach, said he was only focussing on delivering two good balls.

“I think that’s my nature, I wasn’t thinking much about the result in the last over. There was no discussion in the last over, was just focussed on the process. Was thinking just about bowling two good balls, anything could have happened. I wasn’t thinking much, was just focussed on the process. The ball swung so much today, can’t really pinpoint, really enjoyed bowling. Luckily got wickets today. When the season started my thought process was different but it changed when the batters played in such a way. My thought process changed completely to be honest (from the time the time the season started to today),” he said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
