Dennis Gjengaar scored the game-tying goal in the 47th minute and the New York Red Bulls rallied for a 2-2 draw with Orlando City on Saturday afternoon at Harrison, N.J.

Playing with a depleted lineup and shortly after announcing Lewis Morgan underwent knee surgery, the Red Bulls (1-1-2, 5 points) rallied twice in the first encounter with Orlando since beating them in the Eastern Conference finals in November.

Gjengaar scored his third career goal on a fortunate bounce after the Red Bulls nearly tied it during seven minutes of first-half stoppage time.

Emil Forsberg and Raheem Edwards sped up the field on a 2-on-1 and Peter Stroud cut to the right side of the net. Gjengaar cut through the middle of the box, got a cross from Stroud and flicked the ball off his thigh on a sharp angle into the right side of the net before goalkeeper Pedro Gallese could react.

Gjengaar nearly scored again in the 72nd minute but was met by Gallese on a breakaway well outside the box and his right-footed shot was sent away. He missed another opportunity in the 85th when he hit the right post.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored his first career MLS goal on a penalty kick in the 29th for the Red Bulls, who possessed the ball for 55.7 percent of the contest.

Martin Ojeda scored in the 18th minute and Marco Pasalic scored in the 39th for Orlando (1-2-1, 4 points), which has allowed 10 goals through four weeks.

New York goalkeeper Carlos Coronel made five saves and preserved the point with four stops in six minutes of second-half stoppage time. Gallese finished with four saves.

After getting by Daniel Edelman and Alexander Haak, Ojeda made a move around Noah Elie. With plenty of room from the penalty area, he rocketed the ball into the lower left corner for a 1-0 lead.

The Red Bulls answered when Robin Jansson fouled Choupo-Moting in the corner of the field. After the foul, Choupo-Moting hammered a right-footed shot over the diving attempt of Gallese.

Orlando regained the lead on a stellar move by Pasalic when he caught the Red Bulls flat-footed. Pasalic beat defender Raheem Edwards to the center of the box and easily lifted a left-footed shot into the middle of the net.
