It appears cornerback Jalen Ramsey’s time as a Miami Dolphin could be coming to an end.

The Dolphins and Ramsey have mutually agreed to explore trade options, according to reports.

The Dolphins extended Ramsey’s contract this spring. Spotrac reported Ramsey’s contract has $91.8 over four years remaining, including a guaranteed $21.5 million through 2025.

Ramsey, 30, came to Miami after the 2022 season in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. Ramsey missed the first seven games that season with a knee injury, but he still made the Pro Bowl for the seventh time.

After the 2022 season, Ramsey agreed to a three-year, $72.3 million extension that made him the league’s top-paid cornerback, a designation since removed (Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. makes $30 million annually on his new $90 million contract).

Ramsey is currently due a guaranteed $25.1 million, but a new team would only have to pay him $21.1 million this season. That’s because the Dolphins already have paid Ramsey’s $4 million roster bonus.

A firm deadline for a deal does not exist, NFL Network reported Tuesday, but Miami is motivated to do a deal before the 2025 NFL Draft on April 24. Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel could use the draft to shore up their ranks a cornerback. Miami holds the No. 13 overall pick, and has nine additional selections.
