Team Liquid sweep into PGL Wallachia Season 4 playoffs

Team Liquid, Tundra Esports and BetBoom Team won their matches Tuesday to advance out of the group stage at the PGL Wallachia Season 4 event in Bucharest, Romania.

Liquid swept Team Tidebound while Tundra and BetBoom each posted 2-1 wins against Team Falcons and Aurora Gaming, respectively.

Liquid, Tundra and BetBoom joined previous playoff qualifiers Team Spirit and PARIVISION, with the final three spots to be determined Wednesday.

The $1 million Dota tournament began with 16 teams in a modified Swiss group stage format with the double-elimination playoffs running through April 27.

All matches in the group stage are best-of-three. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs, and the bottom eight are eliminated. The playoffs are Thursday through Sunday, with all matches best-of-three except for the grand final, which is best-of-five.

Liquid defeated Tidebound in 35 minutes and 50 minutes, both on green. Falcons opened with a 73-minute win on red but Tundra answered with a 37-minute win on red and a 28-minute victory on green. BetBoom sandwiched a 39-minute win on red and a 42-minute win on green around Aurora’s 45-minute win on red.

In Tuesday’s matches pitting 1-2 teams, NAVI Junior swept Nigma Galaxy, Xtreme Gaming swept Shopify Rebellion and HEROIC defeated Edge 2-1. The losing teams were eliminated.

–Team Falcons vs. NAVI Junior

–Aurora Gaming vs. HEROIC
