Thieves earn top seeding for CDL Stage 2 Major playoffs

The Los Angeles Thieves took home first place with the completion of Week 4 matches on Sunday in qualifying for the Call of Duty League Stage 2 Major.

The Thieves went 7-0 with a plus-19 map differential and earned 70 CDL points. Atlanta FaZe (6-1, plus-11) were second for 60 points, followed by Toronto Ultra (5-2, plus-3), the Carolina Royal Ravens (5-2, plus-8) and Vancouver Surge (5-2, plus-5), all collecting 50 points.

The Stage 2 Major qualifying round included all 12 teams, with each playing seven matches through Sunday to determine seeding for the Stage 2 Major playoffs, slated for Thursday through March 23 in Dallas.

OpTic Texas (1-6) notched their first win of qualifying on Sunday, 3-1 over Los Angeles Guerrillas M8. OpTic opened with a 250-166 win on Hacienda Hardpoint, then dropped a 6-3 outcome on Red Card Search and Destroy before responding with victories in Hacienda Control (3-0) and Protocol Hardpoint (250-192).

The Vancouver Surge followed a similar pattern in downing Minnesota Rokkr 3-1. The Surge started with a 250-189 win on Hacienda Hardpoint, fell 6-1 in Vault Search and Destroy, then triumphed 3-1 on Vault Control and 250-204 on Vault Hardpoint.

Atlanta FaZe kept the pattern going with a 3-1 win over Cloud9 New York. FaZe went ahead on Protocol Hardpoint (250-135), then Cloud9 drew even on Protocol Search and Destroy (6-3). Atlanta came through with a 3-1 win on Hacienda Control and a 250-240 triumph on Hacienda Hardpoint.
